You should say:
- what the film was and when you saw it

Yaqin variantlar: a film you enjoyed watching, a film you would like to watch again, a film that made you laugh. Birinchi variantda hissiyot o‘rniga zavq, ikkinchisida sabab (nega yana ko‘rmoqchisiz), uchinchisida kulgili sahna markazga chiqadi.

The film I’d like to talk about is Coco, the animated film. I saw it at a cinema in Tashkent a few years ago, during the winter school holidays.
I have to admit I didn’t choose it. My little sister, who was eight at the time, had been begging to see it for weeks, and my mum more or less ordered me to take her. So the three of us went, and I sat down fully expecting a colourful cartoon for kids that I’d forget by the evening.
Without spoiling too much, it’s about a Mexican boy who loves music, even though his family has banned it for generations. On a festival night he ends up in the land of the dead, where he meets his ancestors and has to find his way back home.
The first hour was fun, the music was great, and the animation was stunning. But it was the last scene that got to me. It focuses on a very old woman, the boy’s great-grandmother, who has almost lost her memory. I won’t say what happens, but I looked over and my mum was crying, and to be honest, so was I, although I pretended I had something in my eye.
Why did it leave such an impression? Mostly because it reminded me of my own great-grandmother. She lived to ninety-three, and in her last years she often didn’t recognise us, but she still remembered songs from her childhood. There are photos of her on the wall in our living room, and in Uzbek families we talk about relatives who have passed away quite a lot, at family gatherings and on holidays. The film showed that tradition in a completely different culture, and it made me feel that remembering people is something that connects us all. I’ve rewatched it since in English with subtitles, and it still works on me.

- “I watched it in cinema.” Kinoteatr uchun at the cinema (ba’zan in the cinema); artiklni tushirmang. Kinoteatrda ko‘rish uchun see a film ko‘p ishlatiladi: I saw it at the cinema. Uyda: I watched it at home.
- “It is cartoon.” Qisqa bolalar multfilmi a cartoon, to‘liq metrajli animatsion film esa ko‘pincha an animated film. Ikkala holatda ham artikl kerak.
- “The film’s name is…” Tabiiyroq: It’s called… yoki The film I’d like to talk about is…
- “I was crying at the end.” Xato emas, lekin bir martalik harakat uchun past simple aniqroq: I cried at the end.
- Syujet zamoni. Film voqeasi odatda present simple’da aytiladi: he ends up in…, he meets… Siz ko‘rgan payt esa past simple: I saw it three years ago.

Part 3: kino va media haqida 4 savol
- Why do so many adults enjoy animated films? Because the best ones work on two levels: jokes and colours for children, and themes like loss or family for adults. Parents who expected to be bored end up enjoying them more than their kids.
- Is it better for learners to watch films dubbed or with subtitles? For learning, original sound with subtitles, no question. You hear real pronunciation and rhythm, and if you choose English subtitles, you connect the sound with the spelling.
- Will streaming services replace cinemas? Not completely. Streaming wins on price and convenience, but people still want big, shared experiences: premieres, holidays, a night out with friends.
- Do films influence how young people behave? To some extent, especially in fashion and the way they talk. But I think friends and social media have a much bigger influence than any single film.
