(If you order 2,000 units, we can offer 5% off), смягчать отказ (I’m afraid that would be difficult for us вместо No, it’s impossible) и в конце пересказывать договорённость (So, to sum up, we’ve agreed on…).
Thanks for making the time. Shall we start with volumes and then move on to price? |
What’s most important for you in this deal: price, speed or payment terms? |
Our main priority is a long-term contract. We’re looking for at least a year. |
We’d like to propose a price of $4.20 per unit for 5,000 units. |
When you say “fast delivery”, what exactly do you mean: two weeks or four? |
Let me discuss this with my team and come back to you by Thursday. |
So, just to confirm: $4.05 per unit, 60 days’ payment, first delivery in March. |
I think we have a deal. I’ll send you the draft contract tomorrow. |
- If you can pay within 30 days, we could reduce the price to $4.10.
- We could offer free delivery, provided that the order is at least 3,000 units.
- What if we split the difference and say $4.05?
- Is there any flexibility on the payment terms?
- That’s as far as we can go. / This is our final offer.
- I can’t agree to that price unless we also change the delivery schedule.
First Conditional: if + Present Simple, will/can/could + глагол. В первой части не ставят will: If you will order more — ошибка.

|---|---|---|
That works for us. / Agreed. | I’m afraid we can’t accept that. |
I agree in principle, but we need to look at the details. | I see your point, but… |
That could work, if… | I’m not sure that would work for us. |
That sounds reasonable. Let me check with my director. | I’d need to think about that. |
Помогают четыре инструмента: I’m afraid…, модальные would/could (That would be difficult), вопрос вместо утверждения (Would you consider…?) и слово slightly (The price is slightly higher than we expected).
A (Anna): Thanks for joining, Aziz. We liked your samples. Can we talk about price first?
B (Aziz): Of course. For 5,000 sets our price is $9.80 per set, delivered to Warsaw.
A: To be honest, that’s higher than we expected. Our current supplier charges $9.
B: I understand. Can I ask what’s included in their price? Is delivery included?
A: No, delivery is extra. But we’d still need something closer to $9.20.
B: I’m afraid $9.20 would be difficult for us. But if you increase the order to 8,000 sets, we could go down to $9.40.
A: 8,000 is too many for the first order. What if we sign for 5,000 now and 5,000 more in the autumn?
B: That could work. In that case we could offer $9.50 for both orders, provided that you confirm the second one by June.
A: Hmm. What about payment? We usually pay in 90 days.
B: 90 days is a long time for us. Could you consider 60 days, with 20% in advance?
A: I’d need to check with our finance director. Let’s say 60 days and 10% in advance.
B: Let’s split the difference: 15% in advance.
A: All right, 15%. So, just to confirm: $9.50 per set for two orders of 5,000, 15% in advance, the rest in 60 days, and delivery included.
B: Exactly. I’ll send you the draft contract by Friday.
A: Great. It’s been a pleasure doing business with you.
(I’m afraid… would be difficult), каждую уступку связывает с условием (if you increase the order, provided that you confirm) и сначала выясняет, из чего складывается цена конкурента.
|---|---|---|
| I am agree. | I agree.
| We can make you a discount. | We can give / offer you a discount. | с discount — give или offer |
| Let’s discuss about the price. | Let’s discuss the price. | discuss
| It is impossible for us. | That would be difficult for us.
| This is our last price. | This is our final offer.
| Give us concrete numbers. | Could you give us specific figures? | concrete
| We need to think. | Let us think it over and get back to you by Monday. |
