My country, Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan is a country in Central Asia. It borders five countries, but it has no sea coast. The capital and the biggest city is Tashkent. It is a modern city with wide streets, parks and a metro with beautiful stations.
Uzbekistan is famous for its history. Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva were important cities on the Silk Road, and today tourists come to see their blue domes, madrasas and old city walls. The historic centres of these cities are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The land is very different from region to region. There are deserts in the west, high mountains in the east and the green Fergana Valley, which is famous for fruit, silk and ceramics. Summers are hot and dry, and winters can be cold.
People in Uzbekistan are hospitable. When a guest comes, the family puts bread, fruit, sweets and green tea on the table. Our national dish is plov, and every region cooks it in its own way. Family is very important, and young people show respect for elders.
The biggest holiday is Navruz, on 21 March. People cook sumalak, visit relatives and celebrate the start of spring. If you visit Uzbekistan, you will always find a warm welcome.
Matndagi foydali tuzilmalar:

- Matn Present Simple’da: fakt va odatlar uchun.

Dialog: chet ellik hamkasb bilan
Tom: I’m thinking about visiting Uzbekistan next spring. Where should I go?
Dilnoza: Start in Tashkent, then take the high-speed train to Samarkand. It takes about two hours.
Tom: And after Samarkand?
Dilnoza: Go to Bukhara, and if you have time, Khiva. Khiva is like a city from a fairy tale.
Tom: Is it expensive?
Dilnoza: Not really. Food is cheap, and small family guesthouses are cosy.
Tom: Any advice?
Dilnoza: Say yes when someone invites you for tea. That’s the best way to see real Uzbek life.
