Kechki Registon maydonida turgan to‘rt yosh: O‘zbekiston haqida ingliz tilida matn

O‘zbekiston haqidagi inglizcha matn to‘rt blokdan tuziladi: joylashuv (Uzbekistan is in Central Asia. Its capital is Tashkent.), shaharlar va tarix (Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva were important cities on the Silk Road), taom va an’analar (plov, green tea, Navruz, hospitality) va shaxsiy munosabat (What I love most about my country is…). Faktlarni kam, lekin aniq yozing: noto‘g‘ri raqam butun matnga ishonchni yo‘qotadi.

A2: My country, Uzbekistan

I live in Uzbekistan. It is a country in Central Asia, and its capital is Tashkent. Uzbekistan has deserts, mountains and green valleys. A large part of the country is the Kyzylkum Desert, and in the east there is the Fergana Valley, where people grow cotton, fruit and vegetables. The most famous cities are Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva. They have beautiful old mosques and madrasas with blue domes, and many tourists visit them every year. Uzbek people are friendly and hospitable. If you visit an Uzbek family, they will give you green tea, bread and sweets. Our national dish is plov. We cook it with rice, carrots, onions and meat in a big pot called a kazan. The biggest holiday is Navruz on 21 March. I love my country and I want foreigners to know more about it. (145 so‘z)

Tarjimasi. Men O‘zbekistonda yashayman. Bu Markaziy Osiyodagi davlat, poytaxti Toshkent. O‘zbekistonda cho‘llar, tog‘lar va yashil vodiylar bor. Mamlakatning katta qismini Qizilqum cho‘li egallaydi, sharqda Farg‘ona vodiysi joylashgan, u yerda paxta, meva va sabzavot yetishtiriladi. Eng mashhur shaharlar — Samarqand, Buxoro va Xiva. Ularda ko‘k gumbazli chiroyli qadimiy masjid va madrasalar bor, har yili ko‘plab sayyohlar ularni ko‘rgani keladi. O‘zbeklar do‘stona va mehmondo‘st. O‘zbek oilasiga mehmon bo‘lsangiz, sizga ko‘k choy, non va shirinlik berishadi. Milliy taomimiz — osh. Uni guruch, sabzi, piyoz va go‘shtdan qozon deb ataladigan katta idishda pishiramiz. Eng katta bayram — 21-martdagi Navro‘z. Men Vatanimni yaxshi ko‘raman va chet elliklar u haqida ko‘proq bilishini istayman.

E’tibor bering: the Kyzylkum Desert, the Fergana Valley (artikl bilan), lekin Uzbekistan, Samarkand (artiklsiz). Hospitable — sifat, hospitality — ot.

B1: Uzbekistan: more than the Silk Road

When foreigners hear the word "Uzbekistan", most of them think of the Silk Road, and they are not wrong. For centuries, caravans carrying silk, spices and ideas passed through Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, and the historic centres of all three cities, together with Shakhrisabz, are now UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Walking around Registan Square in the evening, when the madrasas are lit up, is something most visitors never forget.

However, the country is not only about history. Tashkent is a busy modern city with a metro, new business districts and crowds of young people. Interestingly, in 2026 UNESCO also added ten of the city’s modernist buildings from the 1960s–1980s to its list, including Chorsu Bazaar and Kosmonavtlar metro station.

For me, the real Uzbekistan is in everyday life: the smell of fresh bread from a tandir, the long conversations over green tea, the weddings where hundreds of guests are invited, and the way neighbours in the mahalla help each other. Our food is also a big part of who we are. Palov, as we call plov, is so important that its culture is on UNESCO’s list of intangible heritage. If you ever come here, don’t just look at the monuments. Accept an invitation to someone’s home. (212 so‘z)

Tarjimasi. Chet elliklar "O‘zbekiston" so‘zini eshitganda, ko‘pchiligi Buyuk ipak yo‘lini eslaydi va ular adashmaydi. Asrlar davomida ipak, ziravor va g‘oyalar ortilgan karvonlar Samarqand, Buxoro va Xivadan o‘tgan, bugun bu uch shaharning, shuningdek Shahrisabzning tarixiy markazlari UNESCO Butunjahon merosi ro‘yxatida. Kechqurun madrasalar yoritilganda Registon maydonida sayr qilish ko‘p mehmonlar hech qachon unutmaydigan taassurot.

Biroq mamlakat faqat tarixdan iborat emas. Toshkent — metrosi, yangi biznes tumanlari va yoshlari ko‘p gavjum zamonaviy shahar. Qizig‘i, 2026-yilda UNESCO shaharning 1960–1980-yillarda qurilgan o‘nta modernistik binosini ham ro‘yxatga kiritdi, ular orasida Chorsu bozori va Kosmonavtlar metro bekati bor.

Men uchun haqiqiy O‘zbekiston kundalik hayotda: tandirdan uzilgan issiq non hidi, ko‘k choy ustidagi uzoq suhbatlar, yuzlab mehmon chaqiriladigan to‘ylar va mahallada qo‘shnilarning bir-biriga yordami. Taomlarimiz ham kimligimizning katta qismi. Biz palov deb ataydigan osh shunchalik muhimki, uning madaniyati UNESCO nomoddiy merosi ro‘yxatiga kiritilgan. Qachondir bu yerga kelsangiz, faqat obidalarni tomosha qilmang. Kimningdir uyiga taklifni qabul qiling.

B2: Why Uzbekistan is hard to describe in one sentence

Describing Uzbekistan to someone who has never been here is surprisingly difficult, because the country resists simple labels. Geographically, it is one of only two doubly landlocked countries in the world, yet two great rivers, the Amu Darya and the Syr Darya, shaped its history. Most of its territory is desert or steppe, but the Fergana Valley in the east is so fertile that it has been farmed for thousands of years.

Culturally, the picture is just as layered. Persian, Turkic, Russian and Soviet influences can all be traced in the language, the architecture and even the menu of an ordinary Tashkent café. Visitors who expect a museum of the Silk Road are often struck by how young and fast-changing the society is, while those who come for business discover that traditions such as respect for elders and generous hospitality still shape how deals are made.

If I had to sum it up, I would say that Uzbekistan is a place where continuity and change live side by side. The same family might cook plov in a kazan on Friday and order sushi through an app on Saturday, and nobody would see a contradiction in that. (205 so‘z)

Tarjimasi. Bu yerda hech bo‘lmagan odamga O‘zbekistonni tasvirlab berish kutilmaganda qiyin, chunki mamlakat oddiy yorliqlarga sig‘maydi. Geografik jihatdan u dunyodagi ikki marta dengizdan uzilgan ikki davlatdan biri, lekin ikki buyuk daryo — Amudaryo va Sirdaryo uning tarixini shakllantirgan. Hududining katta qismi cho‘l yoki dasht, ammo sharqdagi Farg‘ona vodiysi shunchalik unumdorki, ming yillardan beri dehqonchilik qilinadi.

Madaniy manzara ham xuddi shunday ko‘p qatlamli. Fors, turkiy, rus va sovet ta’sirini tilda, me’morchilikda va hatto oddiy Toshkent kafesining menyusida ham ko‘rish mumkin. Ipak yo‘li muzeyini kutib kelgan mehmonlar jamiyat qanchalik yosh va tez o‘zgarayotganidan hayratga tushadi, biznes uchun kelganlar esa kattalarni hurmat qilish va saxiy mehmondo‘stlik kabi an’analar hali ham kelishuvlarga ta’sir qilishini bilib oladi.

Bir gap bilan yakunlashim kerak bo‘lsa, O‘zbekiston — davomiylik va o‘zgarish yonma-yon yashaydigan joy, derdim. Bitta oila juma kuni qozonda osh damlab, shanba kuni ilova orqali sushi buyurtma qilishi mumkin va hech kim bunda qarama-qarshilik ko‘rmaydi.

Bir daqiqalik og‘zaki variant

Namuna (taxminan 1 daqiqa): So, Uzbekistan is in Central Asia, and most people know it because of the Silk Road cities, like Samarkand and Bukhara. They really are beautiful, especially Registan at night. But I think the best thing about my country is the people. We’re very hospitable, if you visit someone, they’ll never let you leave without tea and food. And the food is great, of course, plov, somsa, fresh bread. If a foreigner asked me what to see, I’d say go to Khiva, and then spend a day in an ordinary mahalla.
