O‘zbek taomlari inglizcha: oshdan sumalakkacha tushuntirish

Osh, somsa, manti, lag‘mon, chuchvara va sumalakni chet ellikka inglizcha tushuntirish: tarkibi, pishirilishi, tayyor gaplar, menyu namunasi va mashq.

Tandirda yopilgan qizarib pishgan uchburchak somsa

O‘zbek taomini inglizcha tushuntirishning eng oson yo‘li — nomini o‘zbekcha qoldirib, keyin to‘rt narsani aytish: qanday taom (a rice dish, a pastry, dumplings), nimadan (lamb, onions, pumpkin), qanday pishiriladi (steamed, baked in a tandoor) va qachon yeyiladi (at weddings, for Navruz). Masalan: Manti are big steamed dumplings with lamb and onion inside. We eat them with sour cream.

Qolip bitta: X is a … made with … . It’s … . We usually eat it … Quyida oltita asosiy taom batafsil, yana o‘ntasi qisqa, oxirida menyu yozish qoidalari va mashq. Mahsulot nomlari (go‘sht turlari, ta’m sifatlari) ovqat nomlari inglizcha sahifasida bor, bu yerda esa tushuntirishning o‘zi.

Osh (plov)

Plov is Uzbekistan’s national rice dish. You fry lamb or beef in a big cast-iron pot called a kazan, add onions and a lot of carrots cut into thin strips, then cook everything slowly with rice, cumin and whole garlic bulbs. Some families add chickpeas, raisins or quinces. Men traditionally cook it for weddings and big family events, and it’s served on one large plate that everyone shares.

Qo‘shimcha: 2016-yilda “Palov madaniyati va an’analari” YuNESKOning nomoddiy madaniy meros ro‘yxatiga kiritilgan. Bu faktni aytish uchun: Plov culture is on UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage. Toshkent, Samarqand, Farg‘ona oshlari farqini aytish mumkin: Every region has its own version.

Somsa

Somsa is a pastry with a savoury filling. The classic one has chopped lamb, fat and onion, but in spring people make it with green herbs, and in autumn with pumpkin. The pastry is stuck onto the hot inside wall of a clay oven called a tandir, so the bottom gets crispy. It’s street food: people buy it hot for breakfast or lunch.

O‘zbekcha “tandir” inglizcha matnlarda ko‘pincha tandoor deb yoziladi. Pie so‘zidan qoching: inglizlar uchun pie — likopchada pishiriladigan, ustini xamir yopgan taom.

Manti

Manti are large dumplings filled with minced or chopped meat and lots of onion. They’re cooked in steam in a special pot with several levels. Pumpkin manti are a good option for vegetarians. We eat them with sour cream, yogurt or a spicy tomato sauce.

Manti ko‘plikda: These manti are delicious (mantis emas; inglizlar ba’zan mantis ham deydi, lekin bu so‘z ko‘proq hasharot nomi bilan chalkashadi).

Lag‘mon

Lagman is a dish of long hand-pulled noodles. The cook stretches the dough by hand until it’s very thin. It comes with a thick sauce of meat, peppers, tomatoes, garlic and other vegetables. You can have it as a soup, or fried, which is called “qovurma lag‘mon”.

Qo‘shimcha ibora: The noodles are made fresh every day. Achchiqligini so‘rashsa: It can be spicy — ask them to make it mild.

Chuchvara

Chuchvara are tiny dumplings, much smaller than manti, filled with minced meat and onion. They’re boiled and usually served in a clear broth with herbs, or without broth, with sour cream or yogurt on top. They’re similar to Russian pelmeni or Italian tortellini.

Chet ellik o‘ziga tanish taom bilan solishtirsa, tezroq tushunadi: It’s similar to… qolipi juda qulay.

Sumalak

Sumalak is a special dish for Navruz. It’s made from sprouted wheat, water, oil and flour, cooked in a huge kazan for a whole night. Women take turns stirring it so it doesn’t burn, and they sing traditional songs. The result is a thick, brown paste with a naturally sweet taste, although no sugar is added. People put small stones at the bottom of the pot, and if you find one in your bowl, it’s a sign that your wish will come true.
