Ilgichda osilgan abr naqshli uzun atlas ko‘ylak

Put on — kiyish harakati, bir lahzalik: Put on your coat, it’s cold outside. Wear — kiyib yurish holati, kiyim ustingizda turadi: She’s wearing a green coat today. Ertalab siz paltoni put on qilasiz, keyin kun bo‘yi uni wear qilasiz.

Dress esa kiyimni emas, odamni to‘ldiruvchi qilib oladi: dress a child (bolani kiyintirmoq). O‘zingiz kiyinsangiz — get dressed. Do‘konda kiyib ko‘rsangiz — try on.

Shakllar: wear – wore – worn, put – put – put, take – took – taken, dress – dressed – dressed. Wear noto‘g‘ri fe’l, wore va worn ni were bilan adashtirmang. Talaffuzda wear /weə/ xuddi where kabi aytiladi, “viyr” emas; wore /wɔː/ va worn /wɔːn/ esa war, warn ga yaqin. So‘z boshidagi w da lablar dumaloqlanadi, o‘zbekcha v kabi tishga tegmaydi.

Nega o‘zbek va rus tilida gapiruvchilar adashadi

O‘zbekcha kiymoq ikkala ma’noni ham beradi: paltoni kiydi (put on) va har kuni palto kiyadi (wear). Farq faqat kontekstda. Bundan tashqari, o‘zbek tilida ko‘zoynak, soat, uzuk taqiladi, inglizchada esa bularning hammasi wear: wear glasses, wear a watch, wear a ring, wear earrings. Hatto wear make-up, wear perfume, wear a smile ham deyiladi.

Rus tilida esa boshqa tuzoq: надеть va одеть ni ona tilida ham adashtirishadi, ingliz tiliga esa одеть ni dress deb o‘tkazib, I dressed my jacket deyishadi. Qoidani eslang: dress + odam, put on + kiyim.

Yana bir farq: o‘zbekcha ko‘ylak ham erkaklar ko‘ylagini, ham ayollar ko‘ylagini bildiradi. Inglizchada erkaklarniki shirt, ayollarniki dress. My father wore a white dress degan gap kulgili chiqadi.

Put on va take off: harakat va so‘z tartibi

  • Put on your shoes. = Put your shoes on. — ikkala tartib ham to‘g‘ri.
  • Put them on. — olmosh bo‘lsa, faqat o‘rtada. Put on them xato.
  • take off — yechmoq: He took off his jacket in the warm classroom.
  • put on weight — semirmoq (kiyimga aloqasi yo‘q), put on make-up — pardoz qilmoq.
  • do up / undo — tugma, zamokni qadamoq / ochmoq: Do up your jacket, it’s windy.
  • zip up — zamokni tortmoq.

Bu turdagi fe’llar put va take bilan juda ko‘p; ularning to‘liq ro‘yxati phrasal verbs: put sahifasida bor.

Wear: holat va odat

Wear kiyim ustingizda bo‘lgan vaqtni tasvirlaydi, shuning uchun ikki xil zamonda ko‘p keladi:

  • Present Continuous — hozir, shu lahza: Today Dilnoza is wearing an atlas dress.
  • Present Simple — odat: My grandfather always wears a chapan in winter.
  • Past Simple — o‘tgan voqeadagi holat: What did you wear to the graduation?

Wear bilan kiyimdan boshqa narsalar ham: wear your hair long (sochni uzun qo‘ymoq), wear a uniform, wear a mask. Have on esa so‘zlashuvdagi sinonim: She had a red scarf on.

Dress, get dressed, dress up

  • get dressed — o‘zingiz to‘liq kiyinasiz: I got dressed quickly and ran to the metro.
  • dress someone — boshqa odamni kiyintirasiz: Can you dress the twins while I make breakfast?
  • dress + ravish — qanday kiyinishingiz: He dresses smartly for work. She dresses like a student.
  • be dressed in — nima kiygan: The children were dressed in national costumes for Navro‘z.
  • dress up — bayram uchun yasanmoq yoki biror qiyofaga kirmoq: Everyone dresses up for a to‘y. My son dressed up as a pilot for the school party.
  • get undressed — yechinmoq.

Try on: do‘konda

Do‘konda kiyimni sotib olishdan oldin try on qilasiz, joyi — fitting room (kiyinish xonasi):

  • Can I try this on? — Buni kiyib ko‘rsam bo‘ladimi?
  • Where’s the fitting room?
  • It doesn’t fit. — O‘lchami to‘g‘ri kelmadi.
  • It suits you. — Sizga yarashdi.
  • Do you have it in a bigger size?

Do‘kondagi to‘liq suhbat, o‘lcham va narx so‘zlari kiyim sotib olish sahifasida jamlangan. Kiyim nomlarining o‘zi (60 dan ortiq so‘z, milliy kiyimlar bilan) esa kiyimlar nomi inglizcha sahifasida.
