My favourite subject is English. We have English lessons three times a week. Our teacher is young and friendly, and her lessons are never boring. We sing songs, play games and watch short videos. My favourite subject is history. I think it is the most interesting subject at school, because every lesson is like a story. I’m especially interested in the history of Central Asia: the Silk Road, Amir Temur and the old cities like Samarkand and Bukhara. Our history teacher, Bahodir aka as we call him, never just reads from the textbook. He brings old coins and photos to class and asks us questions like "What would you do if you lived in the 15th century?" I find these discussions really exciting. History also helps me understand the news and the world around me. In the summer my family went to Khiva, and I could tell my parents about every building we saw. They were surprised! In the future I would like to become a tour guide or a museum worker. (147 so‘z)

B1: Chemistry: the subject I used to hate
If you had told me three years ago that chemistry would become my favourite subject, I would have laughed. In the 7th grade it was just a list of formulas that I had to memorise before every test, and I got my first bad mark in it.
Everything changed in the 8th grade, when a new teacher came to our school. On her very first lesson, instead of writing on the board, she put a glass of water on the table, added a few drops of something and turned it bright pink. Then she asked us to explain what had happened. Nobody could, of course, but for the first time we actually wanted to know.
What I like most about chemistry now is that it explains ordinary things: why bread rises, why iron rusts, why some medicines must be kept in the fridge. I have also realised that I am better at it than I thought; I just needed to understand the logic instead of learning it by heart. This year I am preparing for the chemistry olympiad, and I spend two afternoons a week in the school lab. I am not sure yet whether I want to be a doctor or a pharmacist, but I know that chemistry will be part of my future. (215 so‘z)
